TALES FROM THE TRAIL

Museum guests are now greeted by the Arkansas Wagon as they enter our Prairie Life room.  That wagon was built by an Arkansas family in Jonesboro and was a part of the pilgrimage of wagons that went cross-country to celebrate the American Bicentennial in 1976.  Join us as we welcome participants and descendants of that  train for a panel discussion as they share their memories of their historic four-month journey from Springdale, AR to Valley Forge, PA.

Friday, July 3, 2026, 1pm

To ensure we have ample seating, call 870-673-7001 to let us know you are coming.

HISTORY OF ARKANSAS COUNTY -
An AMERICA250 Celebration

The Museum is excited to partner with Arkansas County Judge Eddy Best to present this History of Arkansas County as we celebrate America250.  Arkansas County was designated by the Missouri Territory Legislature in 1813, 17 years before Arkansas became a state.  But, our history goes back several hundred years beyond that. Hear the stories of the earliest documented Native Americans who inhabited our area, the earliest European explorers and settlers who followed, two Civil War battles, plus much more.

Friday, July 3, 8am - 11am

Presentations will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance at 9am

Arkansas County Courthouse, Southern District
